The ‘Qing Huo’ Ritual in Chinese Culture

In the Chinese cultural, “Qing Huo” is an important ritual. Over the year, the power of the deity is gradually reducing and hence, they will perform this “Qing Huo” ritual to recharge the power of the deity to it’s fullest. They will go back to the deity’s origin place and bring back the deity to the temple once again. Due to the work I am currently doing, I have the chance to experience this sacred ritual. This is the “Qing Huo” ritual of the Weld Quay Hungry Ghost Festival. Their temple is just besides the Lim Jetty. During the ritual, they sent a boat from the temple to the beach near Kampung Sunagi Batu of Teluk Kumbar.
